This November, over 60 staff members from global real estate consultancy Knight Frank descended upon The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead for the 2nd Knight Frank Charity Ski Day for Snow Camp.
The event kicked off with a warm welcome and a buzz of excitement as Knight Frank participants from every level of the organisation met the Snow Camp staff team and young people, before taking to slopes – some for their first ever ski or snowboard lessons.
Snow Camp Apprentices and Youth Forum members worked with Hemel instructors throughout the session to guide beginners through the basics, and everyone on the learner slope made great progress whilst also chatting to Snow Camp young people about how the charity has helped them.
Meanwhile, the more experienced skiers took to the main slope and enjoyed a great freeskiing session, culminating in an exhilarating head-to-head slalom competition.
The race was fast-paced and fun, with cheers and laughter throughout as colleagues raced to the finish line; there was some excellent skiing on show especially from finalist’s Kathryn Cripps and Jack Schofield, with Jack narrowly taking the win in the final.
But while the skiing and snowboarding action was great fun, perhaps the most important part of the day came after the slope session, when Knight Frank staff heard from Snow Camp young people directly about the impact of the charity on their lives. They shared inspiring stories to all in the room. Their determination and resilience left an impact on everyone and showed clearly the importance and impact of the Knight Frank partnership and the work the company supports at Snow Camp.
“This fantastic event highlights the special place Snow Camp holds to all at Knight Frank. It is an excellent opportunity to meet young people who have benefitted from the exceptional difference Snow Camp have made to so many. The impact that we can all make to improve lives of the young people is so important and we look forward to continue to support to make a difference and future events.”
In attendance were senior members of the Snow Camp team, including Dan Charlish (Founder), Lara Kinnear (Managing Director), Dan Keeley (Community & Events Director) and Angus Maclellan (London Programme Manager) – each of whom enjoyed connecting and skiing with all attendees and supporting the day throughout.
“We are so thankful to Knight Frank for hosting this fantastic event once again and for their continuing commitment to our work with young people. We are so proud of the partnership, which is now in its 8th year and continues to develop. We have built strong relationships with so many fantastic people across the company who clearly feel aligned with our charity – which is what makes this partnership so authentic and impactful. And today, we got to introduce Snow Camp’s work to many new staff members and further highlight the impact of the work they are supporting. It was an inspiring day!”
As the day drew to a close, Knight Frank team members left with even greater clarity on how their fundraising has made a real difference to Snow Camp’s work heading into the 24/25 winter season.
Donations were also generously made from The Snow Centre towards the day.
The 2024 Knight Frank Charity Ski Day not only felt like the start of the winter season for all attendees but also underscored the importance of this invaluable partnership and of working together to turn more young lives around through the power of snowsports.
